600 litres of illicit kerosene seized in Kulgam: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, Police in Kulgam on Thursday said to have recovered illicit kerosene in the jurisdiction of Police Station DH Pora and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime. A special checkpoint was established by the police party led by IC PP Nehama at Pombay near Takiya Gopalpora crossing. While checking one vehicle (Load carrier) bearing registration number UP19T-6079 was intercepted, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). During the search, three Barrels filled with 600 litres of illicit kerosene were recovered. The accused person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Itoo son of Ali Mohammad Itoo resident of Pombay, Kulgam involved in the commission of crime has been arrested and the said vehicle was seized, the statement reads. Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 16/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station DH Pora and investigation is in progress. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused was selling the Kerosene oil illegally in black market, police said. Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or illegal practices they come across.
